IWM Duxford

IWM Duxford, just 12 miles drive from Fullers Hill Cottages is a famous former First and Second World War airfield. Take a whole day wandering under and around some of the most iconic aircraft in the world. IWM Duxford is home to an impressive collection of over two hundred aircraft some set in wartime scenes, other undergoing maintenance for coming air displays as well as many tanks, military vehicles, missiles, submarines and boats. The Old Plough

Outside the Old Dairy apartment. The history of this single furrow horse drawn plough is not known, however it’s been on the farm as long as I can recall. The primary purpose of ploughing is to turn over the upper layer of the soil, bringing fresh nutrients to the surface, while burying weeds, the remains of previous crops, and both crop and weed seeds, allowing them to break down. It also aerates the soil, allows it to hold moisture better and provides a seed-free medium for planting an alternate crop. The Old Farm Cart

part of the history of Fullers Hill Farm, Lt Gransden. The Jefferies family have always been very proud of their heritage and past. The late Harold Gadson Jefferies served in the trenches in WW1. Its not known how he gathered together the capital to purchase the farm in 1923, which was initially 270 acres arable and live stock. Grandfather was always very proud to exhibit the farm produce at the agricultural show. Gransden and District Agricultural Society Annual Show was established in 1891.
