The owners Craig and Shaina Galvin-Scott, of The Willow Tree pub/restaurant in Bourn strike again with an indulgent Thai restaurant style pub in Caxton called No.77. Since honeymooning in Ko Yao Noi, their dream of sharing their passion for all things Thai has now come true.
Beautifully and delicately cooked food by Thai Mother and Daughter, Rawee and Cookie from Ko Samui in Thailand, now bring authentic Thai cuisine to Cambridge.
They deliver both a dining menu and a take away menu fit for kings and Queens in decadent surroundings. Old, re-claimed cinema seats, set in pairs, covered in bright blue velvet match the walls. Hanging crystal decanters of varying shapes and sizes decorate the ceiling, as well as copper accessories, all together high light the lovely atmosphere.
Good, happy and funny service from the waiting staff provides your chosen meal with a sense of well-balance familiarity. The food we chose to eat was lovely and well recommended by our waiter who even suggested that the kitchen could dose down on the spices so as not to make it too hot to match my personal palette.
We ordered chicken satay skewers marinated in Thai spices served on bamboo skewer with peanut sauce, vegetable tempura in a light battered sweet chili dip and a few duck spring rolls and Hoi Sin sauce to share. For the main, we had chicken (medium) curry with basil, coconut milk and seasonal vegetables with sticky rice. Delicious!
All the above served with a glass of one of their signature cocktails; ‘Thai Fizz’, which includes Prosecco, lemongrass, sake and lychee.
If you can’t go to Thailand this week, go to No. 77 instead!
